I have been in the pursuit of a better version of myself for as long as I can remember. I don’t mean skills for my career. Making myself better also means how I am thinking, behaving, and acting. Sometimes, things I want to improve on take longer. If I’m lucky, I am able to implement an over night fix. I’ve noticed that it takes others longer to recognize and acknowledge the change in me. What I understand, is that it is hard for us as human beings to change our assumptions. On the other hand, it’s easy for assumptions to develop. What I have to accept is that the assumptions and expectations people have about me are ones that I’ve created.
So when we are becoming better versions of ourselves either by improving our attitudes, skills, and talents, understand that others around us take longer to uncover the undue preconceived judgments about us. It is easy to achieve change when everyone is encouraging you. The hard part is ignoring the disbelief others have in you while continuing to achieve your goal. I believe that if we show that we are able to change our assumptions about everyone else in the process of becoming better versions of our own selves, then others will do the same for us.
Be in a continuous state of self improvement. Recognize when others are doing the same. Each day, we must allow ourselves to suspend assumptions and start over from scratch. Then and only then, will we all emerge as better versions! Make it a goal for each day to emerge as a better version!!
