I was at an event recently where I was painting a vision for a project that I am working on. After the talk, a man came up to me and said he believed in the same vision and wanted to help. I gave him my contact info and he reached out to immediately. On that call he asked “what are the top three hurdles you face as an entrepreneur.” I responded, “I only have one, not three. That is, finding the right person with enough fire in their belly to succeed.”
There is no secret ingredient. I think Anita Roddick, founder of The Body Shop said it perfectly:
“To succeed you have to believe in something with such a passion that it becomes a reality.”
Do you believe in your dreams with so much passion that you are making it a reality? Or are you just “doing” for the dreams of others with no passion at all?
When I look for players on my team or when I am out there advising on people placement, I don’t start with “what talent do they have” or “what does their personality profile say?” I try to discover what they love. And then I look to how I can get them doing what they love. This, is where I believe, players become champions that turn dreams into reality.
